CSI Las Vegas Main List Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Greg leaned against the door and looked at the bandaged figure in the hospital bed.
Dim lights and the constant beeping of them machinery made the room seem slightly unreal. He took a step closer.
“Can you hear me?”
The man on the bed stirred away from his daze. Most of his was covered in bandages, leaving his eyes, mouth, and a sliver of chin visible. His eyes opened.
“Can you talk?”
Moore tried to speak, but his body refused to work. He could merely groan.
“That’s okay. Don’t try too much.” Greg sat down on the chair next to the bed. “I’m on my way out, but I wanted to have a little chat. I talked with Detective Nugent, he told me some of the nasty details. You’ve been a naughty boy, haven’t you?”
A bandaged hand tried to reach the call button, but Greg pushed it out of his reach.
“Have you ever read Stephen King? Storm of the century? Do you know how he described Hell?” He paused. “No? He wrote that Hell is repetition.”
Greg leaned closer. “That’s exactly what your life is gonna be. Day after day. People move you, feed you, and you can’t do anything. Like being alive but not really. Sounds like real Hell on earth.” He took the call button and stood up. “Eleven people died. Their families have been scared for them and now they’re getting back a tin full of ashes. And those who are alive have to deal with it any way they can. It’s incredible…. The amount of pain you’ve caused. How far it spreads and how long it lasts.”
He turned to check the life support systems. Moore’s eyes followed his every move. Greg giggled. “It would be so easy. Just snap a switch and Bye Bye.” He gave Moore a little smile. “But it would be too easy for you. I hope you’ll live to be a hundred, so that you can experience even a small amount of all the pain you’ve caused.”
He leaned closer to take a good look at Moore.
“Have a nice life.”
Greg turned around and walked out.
