Criminal Minds Main List “Do you really need to do that right now?” Morgan exclaimed and leaned
over his desk.
“Do what?”
“That. Do you have to suck on that when I’m trying to concentrate.”
Reid pulled the half eaten candy cane out of his mouth. “It’s candy. You
want one?”
“No thanks. You’ve been licking those all day.”
“So what?”
“Every time I try to get some work done, you put it in your mouth and start
sucking it!”
Morgan stopped when he noticed the look on Reid’s face. He was looking over
Morgan’s shoulder and blushing. Morgan turned to see what was going on behind
his back.
J.J. and Prentiss were staring at them, and looked like they were about
to start giggling like schoolgirls.
“I was talking about candy canes!” Morgan explained.
“I didn’t say anything!” J.J. chuckled. Both women headed to the conference room,
and as soon as the door was closed, a big fit of laughter echoed thought.
Morgan shook his head. “Why are you even eating those at this time of year?”
“I got them from my neighbour last Christmas, and I forgot them.”
“Are they still good?”
“They’re mostly sugar and artificial preservation ingredients, and they’re
wrapped in plastic.”
“And why did you bring them to work with you?”
“I didn’t have time to pack my lunch in the morning.”
“Since when do you bring lunch with you?”
“I do that every day. Usually I just buy something on my way here. Haven`t you
ever wondered where all the leftovers disappear?”
“But we usually have lunch together, why do you need to keep food with you?”
“You never know when we have to leave.” Reid shrugged. “If we have time to go
to lunch, I’ll eat my own food later.”
“And when we go home we’ll have dinner. How can you eat that much? Are you
still growing?”
“I’m twenty-six. Did you know that during the times before industrialisation young
men could have growth spurts as late as seventeen, eighteen or even nineteen.”
“Pretty Boy-”
“It was because majority of the people, who grew in rural areas were not adequately
nourished, and when young men joined the army they were fed better, causing
relatively significant growth.”
“Reid.”
“I did it again, didn’t I?”
“Yep.”
“Sorry.”
“Don’t be sorry. Just don’t talk to J.J. about your diet.”
“Why?”
“She`s on a diet.”
“So why can’t I talk about food?”
“She almost attacked a woman in a restaurant a few weeks ago when she heard
her ordering her food with a creamy sauce.”
“You`re kidding….”
“No, we had to listen to her curses all the way thought our meal.”
“I don’t remember that…. Where was I?”
“You were doing that lecturing gig.”
“Right…. But there you see why it’s good to keep food with you.”
“You were there for three days, are you saying those university people didn’t
feed you?”
“Of course they did, but I always get hungry between meals.”
Morgan suppressed a chuckle. “Maybe your stomach is just confused. It’s so
used to working overtime, that it’s working on overdrive all the time.”
“Are you saying I eat too much?”
“I’m saying, I have no idea where it all goes.”
“I need a lot of energy.” Reid shrugged. “Are you sure you don’t want one?”
He lifted the bag of candy canes closer to Morgan.
“What do we have here?” Garcia planted herself on the corner of Reid’s desk.
“Candy canes. Want one?” Reid offered.
“Oh yeah.” She grabbed one and tore off the wrapping. “Very sweet of you,
Sweetie.”
“See?” Reid grinned at Morgan. “I’m not the only one who likes them.”
“My love bunny doesn’t eat candy. Or so he says...” Garcia giggled around a candy cane. She took another cane and shoved it to her mouth. “Remember last December?”
“You mean the fruitcake incident?” Reid giggled.
“That was around Halloween. Last December that flabby redhead….. Whatever
her name was….”
“Anderson?”
“Yeah. Cheap dye job, even cheaper nose job and that horrible accent. She
brought home made mince pies.”
“Do we have to talk about that?” Morgan grumbled.
“It’s too funny.” Garcia chuckled. “My chokoshrimp made a pig of himself.”
“I didn’t.”
“You did. But the punch line is yet to come.”
“Tell me.” Reid encouraged.
“Late at night, when everyone had left, one of the security guys spotted him in
the gym working off the calories.”
“Morgan…..” Reid tried to control his laugh. “That sounds little bit obsessive….”
“I like to be in good shape!”
“You want me to analyse that behaviour?”
“No!”
“Then stay away from my candy.”
“Okay.”
“Are we going for lunch?” Garcia suggested. “It would boost your macho level
if people saw you with a ravishing blond.”
“I could eat something.” Reid snapped his laptop shut and grabbed his wallet.
“I`m sure you could….” Morgan commented. “I`ll come too.”
“Wait a minute….” Reid looked like he had suddenly figured out something.
“What?”
“When you explained to J.J. and Prentiss that you were talking about candy…
What did they think you were talking about?”
“You know what they were thinking….”
“No, I don`t.”
“You have to know what they thought….”
“What did they think?”
“Pretty Boy, even you can’t be that naive.”
Reid grinned widely. “I’m not, I just wanted to see that look on your face.”
