Packing, Chapter 1 uld_numb3rs December 10 2009, 16:08:10 UTC
People speaks always faster than your teacher! I live in a touristic zone, so I've got german and english people a lot around during summer. But I answer in english when asked in english ;) Unfortunately, some of my folks don't show any courteousness. And then, people think we are harsh...

I love Martin and Don

I`ve had those situations too, mainly because I used to study in a group with several foreign students and sometimes their accents were really hard to understand (but mine was probably just as hard for them). Luckily we always figured it out sooner or later :)

It's hard because you learn the common language in class and then you have the street idiom and the regional idiom and you screwed, i know i am. How I can explain to an english or german people some Provençal words that I use since a was little? I can found some synonym for ones but not for all. So I have to be careful.

French people will spit on you if you try to ask direction in English.

Lol, this made me laugh. Its kinda true.

Whenever we have been to Paris, you can't win. If you try and speak a little french - ma francais est terrible - then its almost like they are disgusted at your appalling language skills but then if you dont even have a go, they wont answer in english. Maybe its just my perception of Parisians being unfriendly.

And oooh, am fearful for Bobby now:(

Not every french people are like this you know. :)

But, I admit some of my compatriot aren't nice people and I didn't like my trip to Paris because of the Parisians too. The city herself was nice.

I have been to Paris many times. It's perfect for a weekend away, I live in England and as you say, the city itself is beautiful. Some lovely architecture, fabulous museums and art and mmmm, great food, but unfortunatley, invariably the Parisians are not friendly. Maybe they tire of all the tourists in the city, but then again, the tourists bring a lot of money into the region and boost the economy, despite our poor language skills!!

I agree with you. I can visit a big city for a week but no more. You need to visit the south, one day, we have great food too :)

I love when the tourists come to visit my region... I'll never understand the Parisians.

And people in Quebec will spit on you if you speak Parisian French. *nods*

If you speak English they just ignore you.
