Morgan`s Bad Day, Prologue

---------------------------------------------

Three hours earlier

“I’ve already unpacked, where are you?” Morgan leaped onto the bed and tried to stretch his back. “In your room?”

“I haven’t even seen my room yet.” Reid explained. “I helped Garcia set up her stuff at the station and then she insisted I have to go with her to the hotel restaurant.”
“We had pizza at the station.”
“I know, but according to her, she gets to travel on bureau pay so rarely that she’ll enjoy this to the fullest. She tried to drag me to the sauna too.”
“You didn’t go, right?”
“What do you think? By the way, guess who showed up.”
“I’m too tired to guess.”
“I’ll give you a hint. If I took few strangers from the street and put you two side by side, they wouldn’t be able to tell which is which.”
“Chad?”
“Yeah. He was supervising some training session somewhere near, so he dropped by on the way back to Virginia.”
“He just dropped by?”
“Don’t worry, he and Hotch already retired for the night, you don’t need to make any small talk.”
“They retired? I can guess what’s going on there-”
“Morgan.”
“Sorry, I’m tired and you’re still not here.”
“I’ll go to my own room and get some fresh clothes and then I’ll come to your room, okay?”
“Don’t keep me waiting.”
“Bye.”

Morgan closed his phone. The bed was so soft the almost fell asleep. The sound of knocking snapped him awake.

“Who is it?”
“Me.”

He got up and opened the door. A cheerful blond walked in.
“Sorry, I know it’s late.” Detective Garrison started. “I was on my way home but I just wanted to talk to you.”
“It’s okay. It’s been a long time.”
“Yeah. You didn’t tell anyone about…..?”
“About the last time we worked together?” Morgan finished.
“Exactly. Nothing personal, but it could make things little bit uncomfortable.”

“Don’t worry, I don’t kiss and tell.” Morgan pulled a water bottle from the minifridge. “Want one?”

“Are you sure FBI pays?” She grinned.
“Garcia handles our cost reports.”
“Then…. sure.” She accepted another bottle and sat down on the edge of the bed. “This may sound too cautious, but my fiancé is a cop too. Different precinct, but you know how gossip travels.”
“So you’re taken?”
“Eleven months now.”
“You’re not wearing a ring.”
“His divorce is not final yet, so we’re keeping a low profile. What about you?”
“Taken too.”
“Really?”
“Almost two years.”
“Seriously?”
“Why is that so hard to believe?”
“Sorry, I just…. wow….”
“We both work in the BAU so we keep it under wraps when we’re travelling. The team knows, but you never know how the locals will react.”
“I know. So who is it?”
“Reid.”
“Reid?” She had to think for a minute. “Tall, thin guy. Sounds like an encyclopaedia.”
“That’s him.”
“Well, that….”
“Surprising?”
“Yeah.”
“It was kind of a surprise for us too.”
“Anyway, congratulations.” She took a sip from her bottle. Unfortunately she did it simultaneously with Morgan. His hand nudged hers and the content of the bottle splashed down to her shirt.

The cold water made her jump up. “I knew you liked to lure girls out of their tops but I had no idea you used cold water to do it.”
“Sorry, it was an accident!” Morgan grabbed a towel from the bathroom. She tried to dry herself as well as possible. “I… I can borrow you a shirt.”
“Thanks.” She pulled her shirt off and accepted the oversized dress shirt Morgan offered. She didn’t have time to button it up before her cell phone beeped. She checked the message. “Great, we got a lead on the stabbing.”
“Stabbing?”
“Different case, I gotta go.” She rushed out, but turned to gave Morgan a hasty smirk. “I’ll bring this to the station tomorrow.”

She marched into the hallway and to the elevator so quickly she missed the two pairs of eyes watching her from the other end of the hallway. Garcia’s and Reid’s.

Few minutes later Morgan was torn away from the bed again. He opened the door and Garcia stormed in looking like a human tornado, only more vicious. She paused in the middle of the room, clutching her laptop against her chest like it was the only thing that kept her from loosing control.

“Remember Darren?”
“Your ex Darren?”
“Yeah. And you remember what I did to him when we broke up?”
“How could I forget….” Morgan shuddered thinking about it.
“Well, that’s nothing compared to what I’d like to do to you right now.”
“Mama, what are you-”
“Did I say you can talk?” Garcia grabbed her laptop with both hands and smacked Morgan on the head with it. Hard.

“That hurt!”
“That’s the whole point, you pig. Just consider yourself lucky I don’t have a rusty knife with me or you would already be Morgana.” She hit him again, this time to the other side of his head. He escaped to the bathroom and locked the door.

“Come out and take it like a man!”
“I’ll come out when you stop hitting me!”
“Fine, be a whiney, cheating little bitch. You can camp out there, I’ll go and make sure your credit records are ruined for life!”

Her last scream was followed by a slam of the door. Morgan opened the bathroom door and peeked out carefully. The room was empty.

There was another knock on the door.

“Garcia?”
“No, it’s me.”
“Chad?”
“Open the door.”

Morgan opened the door. Chad was standing in the hallway. His clothes were hanging half open, like he had just gotten dressed in  a hurry. Morgan didn’t have time to say anything.

A fist landed in the middle of his cheek and everything went black.
