CSI Las Vegas Main List Chapter 1 Chapter 2 “So, you two had a fight.” Detective Kerr summarised.
“Yes.” Nick confirmed and wrapped his hand tightly around his coffee mug. “He kicked me out.”
“And after that you tried to approach him through phone calls and text messages.”
“Yes, but he didn’t answer.”
“And at six you were called to work.”
“Yes.”
“And at that time you had no idea where Mr. Sanders was or what he was doing?”
“That’s right. He was supposed to go with his buddies to Lake Mead for two days, but he cancelled it.”
“Do you think he could have changed his mind and leave anyway?”
“I don’t know.”
“Now….. I have to ask about this. What was your fight about?”
“It was personal. It had nothing to do with this.”
“Really?”
“Really.”
“Stokes…..” Kerr let out a frustrated sigh. “I’ve talked with Mr. Johnson.”
“So?”
“Yesterday morning after the nightshift hand ended he had a talk with Mr. Sanders.”
“About what?”
“You. Mr. Johnson had seen you in a compromising position with another employee of the crime lab. Is this true?”
Nick didn’t answer.
“I’ll take that as a yes. They talked before he went home, and again on the telephone after the fight with you. And once more just before Mr. Sanders left his apartment.”
“So it was Archie.” Nick stated.
“You didn’t know?”
“No, I suspected, but I didn’t know.”
“And this other man was Andre Parson, who works in the achieves.”
“Yes.” Nick gulped. “But…. It wasn’t serious, it was just….”
“It was what?”
“Greg had all these things going on and it was like I was just an afterthought. And when Parson started here he was just so interested in everything and listened every little thing I said. Just like Greg when he started here.”
“Did you and Sanders break up?”
“No! I mean, he kicked me out but…. I wasn’t going to leave him for Andre. It wasn’t like that. It was just physical, nothing else.”
“Do you think Parson saw it that way?”
“No.” Nick looked embarrassed. “He… he thought it was more than it was. I talked to him yesterday, after Greg threw me out. I told him it was over.”
“So I assume you thought you and Sanders would reconcile?”
“Yeah, I hoped so. I tried to call him but he didn’t answer. When I got called in I thought I would give him some time to digest things, and maybe he would listen to me in the morning.” Nick paused. “I love him. I did a really stupid thing, but I love and I want him back.” He took a deep breath. “I just want him back.”
Kerr looked slightly uncomfortable. “We already know where you were last night, so think we’re done for now.”
----------------------------------------------------
Kerr glance over the stack of papers and placed them on the table.
“Mr. Parson, you’ve been working in the crime lab for the last month, is that correct?”
“About five weeks.” Parson shifted back and forth on his chair.
“You had an intimate relationship with CSI Stokes.”
“Yes.”
“Did you know about his relationship with CSI Sanders?”
“Yes. But it wasn’t serious.”
“Did Mr Stokes tell you it wasn’t serious?”
“Not exactly, but I could tell. I mean, you don’t go after another guy if your committed, right?”
“Did he tell you he would leave him?”
“No, but I… I assumed.”
“How long did your affair last?”
“About three weeks.”
“And he ended it yesterday.”
“Yeah. He called me.”
“Did he tell you why he ended it?”
“He said that Sanders knew about us.” Parson leaned back in his chair.
“What did you tell him?”
“I told him it was for the best. Now that Sanders knew about us we didn’t need to hide anymore, but he said…..”
“What?”
“He said it hadn’t meant anything. That it was just sex.” He covered his hand with his palm to stifled a sob. “But I know he was lying. He thinks he wants Sanders back, but he’ll get over it.”
“Where were you last night after six?”
“At home. I watched a movie, I ordered a pizza and then I went to bed.”
“Alone?”
“Yeah.”
“When was the last time you met Mr. Sanders?”
“Maybe last week. We work in opposite sides of the building, we don’t exactly run into each other on regular basis.”
“YOu can go now, we`ll call you if we have some more questions.”
“Okay.” Parson got up but he didn’t leave. “I… people know. Here in the lab.”
“So I`ve heard.”
“Was that really necessary?”
“This case involves three lab emplouees. It`s not a surprise that people are curious. And things like this spread very fast.”
“This is not my fault.” For a minute Parson looked like a lost kid. “They all think I’m some snake that tried to come between those two, I’m not! Everyone’s giving me looks, I know what they’re saying when I’m not around.”
“Stokes and Sanders have both worked here a long time. And they’ve been together a long time.”
“I know, but…. You talked to Nick, right?”
“Yes.”
“Did he…. How is he?”
“Shocked. Angry. Desperate.” Kerr shrugged. “A lot of things.”
“He’s not coming back to me.” Parson stated in a faint voice. “Even if they find Sanders alive.”
“Why do you doubt we would find him alive?”
“I…. I didn’t mean it like that!”
“Then how did you mean it?”
“Nothing. I didn’t mean anything.” He giggled. “I didn’t mean anything, just like I didn’t mean anything to Nick. Isn’t that funny?”
“Not really.”
