When we had left Xander's room, I was sure that Cordelia was just really tired, wanted to get away from the medical wing bed, maybe talk a little and then get some sleep in a bed that wasn't in a room that smelled all sanitized.
We had spoken a little, and she had laid down, maybe a little shaken by what had happened to her while she was gone, and also because of the reasons that she ended up in the medical wing, and soon enough, she had fallen asleep.
I looked at her for a minute, sat in the chair, and just studied her as she peacefully closed her eyes. I felt a malaise coming on over me as well. I had gone out and had been in a fight with vampires at a cemetary where Xander had nearly been killed and had led me to have to carry him back to the estate. I was tired as hell as well, and soon enough, I found something that had escaped me for a little while, sleep.
I wished that the sleep had continued to pass me by, however, as I fell asleep once more. I dreamed of Sam again, only this time it was really vivid. She was trying to make love to me, and in the background, Cassie Robson, a book in her hand, shook her head as if I was being naughty, but yet, Sam continued, and spoke to me, saying that she wanted and needed to shelter me, and that I was in danger.
I tried to understand what she had meant, and then I felt myself hit over the back of the head. I looked up to see Forrest standing over me, a metal container of liquid nitrogen in his hands. I backed away only to be picked up by the freakish creation that had become of my former leader, Maggie Walsh. I managed to elbow my way away from her, my eyes focused on Forrest, and I got in fighting position. He came at me smiling, talking about how dead I was about to be, but I merely prepared myself for battle. I knew that I had killed his demonoid self before.
Still, there he was smiling. I couldn't figure out why until I looked behind me and saw Adam there, holding my Sam, choking the life out of her, her face looking at me to do something. i wasn't going to let her die at the hands of a demon again! I charged Adam, but he dropped her to the ground, and hit me with his skewer again, which dropped me to the ground, screaming.
I woke up, screaming! I looked into Cordelia's eyes as she too seemed to be tossing and turning, as she woke seconds after me. She was trembling and looking at my mid section. Then I felt it. I had a knife wound to my mid section! The pain kicked in and I looked at her again, "What the hell is going on?" I asked her, writhing with a sudden agonizing pain, before the howls came from outside. Seriously loud howling.
I felt the pain and her face held a crazed look. "How the hell was I stabbed in my mid section in my sleep, and what the hell is that howling from outside, Cordelia?"
I got up, nearly fainting, shocked, but at the ready for something.
