I must admit, the circumstances of this war seem most odd. We are plucked from our respective realities with no concern for personal or universal affairs of our own, and dragged here ( Read more... )

It's a bit too late to worry about stuff like that.

The facts are that we're here and they'll do with us what they want. Plain and simple.

It's never too late to question, never too late to learn.

If we never questioned anything, then there wouldn't be much to existence, now would there?

Alright. Say you learned the answers to all your questions.

What good would it do you? It won't get you out of here, will it?

You never know. The answers you get are not always the ones you seek, and not every answer applies only to one question.

Logic like that is key to survival in worlds like this one, and worlds like mine.
You've got to know that you can even get the anwers, though. If not, why waste your time with it when you could do something more productive?

Learning is a gamble.

I am well aware of survival and how to achieve it.

This is a new place. I cannot know if I can get the answers or not save by asking the questions.

Not exactly. Listening around can be helpful on it's own.

But, you do whatever you feel is right. Who am I to stop you?

Quite right.

I didn't plan on it, anyway. Just thought I'd see if I could help you out. Didn't know outside advice would offend you like it seems it did.

Hardly offended.

Maybe I'm just too heavy-handed with conversation. Demons don't tend to listen unless you're blunt and direct.
It's been a while since I've actually spoken to something that doesn't have freakish powers and a desire to kill me.

Unless you have both of those. Then I'm still in the clear- sort of.

Freakish? Define 'freakish'. I have powers, yes, but neither do I feel them to be freakish, nor do I have any desire to kill you that you are aware of.

As in things that just make you stop and think, "Why on earth would they even have that ability?".

Nigh-useless things like... magnetically picking things up off the ground when you walk, any sort of kamakazi-like move where you just run up to something and explode, or being able to change stuff into flies.

...

No. No, I don't have any powers like that.

You have no idea how many demons I've known that can actually do at least one of those. Completely worthless.
But, if they hadn't been of some small use, I would have just killed them and moved on.
