So I had a weird experience this afternoon. I was running some errands after work and on my way to the store I noticed a very stern looking blonde woman in her mid to late forties in the car next to me while we were stopped in traffic at a light. She motioned for me to roll down my window so I turned off the stereo and rolled down the window and she said, "It's illegal to wear that earpiece. You're going to prison." At which point she merged into the bike lane to speed away and turn at the light.
This was very confusing as I have no idea what she was talking about. Did she mean like a Bluetooth headset? Because Oregon doesn't have any laws requiring you to use one, but most states that's the only legal way to make calls. Of course, I don't own one and certainly didn't have one on so I assume she has poor eyesight and a general lack of enjoyment in her life.
Or did she think I was wearing headphones which would be illegal? Also an interesting choice since I was listening to my stereo loud enough she could have heard that.
The worse part about it, it just made me further realize I really don't like people. They are annoying or clueless and in this woman's case: both.
I suppose I need to stop wearing my earpiece only visible to prim suburban bitch housewives who get road rage and imagine things. Funny, I wonder if driving down the bike lane is illegal...
