coachella 07
i just got back from 4 very hot days in the desert. coachella was amazing. i'm not ready to go back to school/work...so much shit to catch up on. anywho, here's who i saw and what i thought:
FRIDAY
-we came in at the end of Of Montreal. they were fun.
-stephen and damian marley we amazing, smoked a blunt, they played welcome to jamrock!
-peaches was aight, i saw her at the fillmore and that was so much better a performance but A for effort, peaches.
-felix da housecat was bumpin!
-benny benassi...well i didn't really want to see him but keri and kelsey did, so we went, took 2 pills and danced a lot
-interpol was bomb, played all the goodies
-sonic youth!!! they came on kind of late and i had to make it to bjork so, unfortunately, i only saw 2 and a half of their songs, they did candle off daydream nation and incinerate off rather ripped...those two were amazing.
-bjork was mindblowing, i've never seen so many people so mezmerized by one person. A+
SATURDAY
-came in at the end of !!!, they were alright, played mostly songs i didn't know, unfortunately...
-CocoRosie was seriously probably the best performance i saw at coachella. their sound guy kept fucking up but they were still amazing.they had their mom come on stage and sing with them, so cute. they looked super hot and danced all cute. the background visuals were kind of disturbing but they made it work. they had videos up of people around the world getting exorcisms and dying little kids and scary looking puppets. ALSO they did a really cool song that sounded like akon's "i wanna fuck you" but they made it all good singing "you see me trying to smile up on that pole, but i'm just hiding in the pain that's deep in my soul. you wanna fuck me, i already know you wanna fuck me and toss me back on the floor". i love them. OH and i met up with my friend since the third grade, holly!!!
-girl talk was super engergetic but his fans were retards and assholes. he had auditions for hot girls to stampede onto the stage and dance around and shake their butts during the performance. all the guys kept rushing the stage trying to touch the girls, i was disgusted, of course.
-red hot motherfucking chili peppers were off the hook. i never thought john frusciante could look that good, holy shit. they played a lot of new stuff which pissed me off, but they made sure to play all the good songs. i love them.
-the rapture was pretty good. they played sister saviour, out of the races and some others. they got boring fast tho.
SUNDAY
-arrived at the end of against me! i was upset because i wanted to see the whole set but traffic of course delayed us. they played walking is still honest...very nice
-the roots were good but i wasn't really paying attention
-willie nelson was old. i didn't recognize any of the songs he played, but it was cool because everyone was smoking mad weeds.
-konono no. 1 was cool, i had never heard of them but i saw them and that's that.
-placebo tore it up. hella good
-air came on more than 40 minutes late and dissappointed me horribly. pretty much everyone got up and walked away from that stage. i was really looking forward to their performance :[
-ratatat was pretty cool. very fun
-rage against the machine played very last and was probably the craziest performace all weekend. people kept walking out of the crowd bleeding. they tore it up too. pretty good for a 7 year hiatus.
