california smells like a campfire. even this close to the coast, the sky is red and raining tiny bits of grey ash.

last night, the combination of the smell of burned wood and the effect of lights diffused through thick smoke and fog reminded me of christmas in the midwest. alas, it is only the result of the fires.

my coworker told me that she was getting her hair done in a salon and a girl rushed in and asked if it was the end of the world. no joke.

what are you doing today?

that's funny, my friend and i were thinking of christmas too! we contemplated making some hot chocolate and going gift shopping, but it was too hot and i wasn't thrilled about spending much time outside.

i was wondering if, prior to world wide news, rampant fires in the distance could have been fodder for apocalyptic bible writing. a reddened sun is supposed to be a sure sign. unbelieveable that even with world wide news, the facts are so easily distorted into accounting for more than they do.

anyhow, craft day! we must have another! this saturday i was in the service of my parents, but next weekend? how's it looking for you?

"unbelieveable that even with world wide news, the facts are so easily distorted into accounting for more than they do."
well said, an understatement as well.

this weekend is fine- i think i work both saturday and sunday but i would get out of work at four on saturday an noon on sunday anyway. i have a short paper due on monday but i believe that i will knock part of that out this week, and the rest of it i will finish on the day we don't meet.
