So, I'm back and I'm already bad at this nonsense. Well, I always used to update when times were hard, so I guess it's good that I don't have much to report on that end. In other news...

Around where I live at home, there's an organization called the "Friends of St. Patrick" which is a bunch of men who are involved with the Rocky Point/Miller Place St. Patrick's Day Parade. I was in it when I was in Girl Scouts many years ago. Richie is a member of it. Well, anyway, every year, they have this cocktail party where they have corned beef and cabbage dinners, Irish Step Dancers, bagpipers, singing, dancing, and all this fun stuff. I've gone since I was little with my Mom and Richie. Well, they also have a "Royal Court" with a Queen, and two Ladies in Waiting. The Queen gets crowned at the party, and then the three go on to be in the parade.

Sooo I've wanted to do that since I was little. But you have to be 18 to apply. This was the first year I was eligible. So, I filled out a resume which listed all my community service, jobs, awards, etc. and submitted a photo. I don't know how many girls applied, but of all that applied, 9 were asked for an interview. I went last Saturday. They asked me questions about stuff on my resume. One guy asked, "How many hours of sleep do you get at night? Cause from the looks of this, you don't get much!" which I thought was kinda funny. You're rated on different categories (I'm not sure what they were) and on a scale from 1-5 for each. Anywho, I was afraid of getting "special treatment" because Richie's on the board, as well as his son, and this guy Jerry Cougan (who I've known since I was born) is the new president of the foundation.

Well, that wasn't the case. I received no special treatment and was graded just as fairly as every other girl. AND I WAS VOTED QUEEN, WINNING BY 20 POINTS!!!! I couldn't believe it. I honestly thought I'd get Lady in Waiting, or nothing at all. The other girls there were SO gorgeous, two of them were models! And I'm only 18, so I figured girls that were older had a better chance, because they've had more time to get involved with the community. But... I won. I'm so freaking excited!!

Richie told me that the one woman that was at the interview said (after I left) that she was "ashamed" to have heard all the things I've done at such a young age, because she hasn't done anywhere near as much. While I was there, one member said to me, "I think you've done more in your short life than any one of us have combined." That same guy said (after I left), "We're done. We don't have to see anyone else. She's it." And I was it. I'm so proud.

Saturday, I go for a photoshoot with the two Ladies in Waiting. I have to wear a gown (like a prom dress, but it has to be long.) I also wear a gown for the dinner party, and for the parade (which will SUCK cause it'll be FREEZING.) But I'm just so looking forward to all of this. I can't wait. My Mom is more excited than anything. She's been calling me 18 times a day and saying that she can't sleep at night and has been crying. She's telling everyone in the world. She said she called the bar and had a round of shots served on me, in my honor, and everyone was saying, "LONG LIVE THE QUEEN!" Hahahaha.

Well, I guess one thing never changes: my entries will FOREVER be a million sentences long. :D
