FOR THE LOVELY BUDDHIST GAL I. ... I want to ask a question but I have no idea what. TARA'S OPINION ON FATE. I dunno. I have the burning desire to as opinion on a certain lazy couch bastard but really I was trying to be subtle and think of something DIFFERENT AND COOL

OKAY SO Tara's opinion on fate is that it doesn't exist. :D Mahayana Buddhism's concept of karma is that future events proceed from past actions; in other words, that every person's past actions determine their own fate in present or future lives. When she says something like "Karma's a mysterious thing", she means "The way in which past actions have caused the present circumstances is mysterious;" she's not referring to an external force like destiny. The important distinction is that everyone can better their circumstances with right action; fatalism and the belief in fate as most people understand it leads to inaction or wrong action, which is sort of anathema to Tara.
