We've finally got a telephone connection and so, for now, I'm on dialup. I don't care how slow it is, I'm so pleased to have my little online world back, particularly my journal and my friends.
I like the house very much; it has a wonderful view out of the lounge window. It's probably not a view most people would rave about, but I find it inspiring. If you stand square-on to the window and look out to the front you see lots of houses, but to the side you can see the hills that sit on the edge of Hobbiton. And, above all this, you can see a huge expanse of sky. When I have a quiet moment I like sit on the window sill and watch the clouds shift across the sky. Sometimes they are quiet, wispy clouds, like you get on a Summer's day. But, at other times, they are huge grey monoliths that are quite intimidating as they hang over the houses and distant hills.
Life in Hobbiton is very peaceful at the moment. I haven't really had any time for any of my friends recently as I'm just so tired looking after Isaac. I really do need to make an effort to go and see people. I met someone the other day who used to be a teacher of mine. She was in fact my favourite teacher and I hadn't seen her in years. She really helped me out a number of years ago and I've always been totally in awe of her. She is so much what I would like to be: sucessful, a wonderful mother, an excellent teacher, confident, interesting...lol the list goes on.
It turns out she lives here in Hobbiton. She told me the name of her house and invited me to visit anytime. Anyway, I went and found her house and I can see why she didn't give me an address, just a desciption and the name: it's huge! It is perhaps one of the biggest (and most grand) houses in the whole of Hobbiton. I haven't been to visit yet, I'm too shy to, plus, I'm a bit scared. That's the trouble with people you admire so much it's hard to make friend with them because you want so much for them to like you. I don't know, I guess it matters too much and I find it hard to be myself.
I've been experimenting with baking cakes, I guess it's the effect of having a new, really efficient oven. So far my best cake has been walnut, prune and date. I'm going to try carrot next.
