And then there were two
So We decided to get a second dog and yesterday we picked up our new little girl. Another whippet, as yet unnamed, from the same breeder we got Gilchrist from. We took Gil with us and Diane (the breeder) was thrilled to see him and it was very gratifying to hear her praise him and his wonderful behaviour. Gil really is a great dog, well behaved and mannered :) When we got him he was past the majority of his puppy stage, close to 4 months. The new little girl is just 9 weeks and truly a puppy puppy
She had a lot of firsts yesterday - collar, long car ride, sleeping alone in a crate, being to a SCA Fight practice and around alot of people. She handled it great and was real trooper.
There was some whining in the car but she eventually settled down and took the lead from Gil and slept most of the way home. She didn't even budge at the border :)
Once at the house despite the early hour (1:30) she ran about for a bit (no wonder after the long nappage in the car) and got aquainted with our cat Georgia. Thankfully they seem to get along brilliantly and were playing together within moments.
The little girl wasn't too bad over the night. She cried some when we put her in her crate alone but eventually settled down. We got up once at about 4:30 then again at 6:30 and have been up since. She's now taking a bit of a nap next to Gil. So far so good. :)
Now to figure out what her name is.
