Remus woke screaming in the middle of the night, his fingers spread wide and grasping at the bedcovers, his body drenched in a cold sweat.
He clenched his eyes shut to block out the vivid memories of his nightmare. Images of himself biting and tearing at the flesh of a boy with pale skin and dirty black hair, and the intense desire to cause harm to the unknown boy, haunted him for the remainder of the night as he tossed and turned in his bed.
From across the room, Sirius watched tears fall from Remus’ eyes, unable to do anything to stop them.
