dreamingenigma tagged me to post 6 random facts about myself.
1. I really hate the word cotton.
2. My ancestors on my father's side were persecuted French Huguenots.
3. About 60% of my dreams involve driving a car that a) I don't know how to drive (i.e. manual) b) I am attempting to drive from the passenger seat or back seat d) I can only navigate from an aerial view and/or e) I am driving at the same time as another car. I'm sure that has meaning of some sort, but it's just damn annoying to be constantly getting into weird driving situations and more often than not car accidents during my dreams.
4. Overhead lighting (esp. fluorescent) makes me feel uneasy. On the other hand, ambient lighting (esp. spotlight/track lighting) can make me feel very comfortable). *take note Chris and Sadie!*
5. I have an extremely 'soft touch'--I am such a sucker and often gullible, which people unfortunately take advantage of without my realizing.
6. I am double jointed in one of my big toes, and can crack my ankles at will (and when I don't want to: just ask
smashingtori, who has to hear my ankles crack as I walk by her bed in the mornings).

And now for the main event:
A book meme from

You’re stuck inside Fahrenheit 451, which book do you want to be?
I don't get this question... why would I want to be a book in Fahrenheit 451?
Have you ever had a crush on a fictional character?
Um, have I ever NOT had a crush on a fictional character? My first fictional crush was probably Ben from the Felicity books :P. My most recent crush would have to be John Harmon in Our Mutual Friend. Most enduring literary crush? Mr. Darcy, DUH.
The last book you bought is: Selected Essays by T.S. Eliot
The last book you read: Well the last book I *finished* is In Cold Blood by Truman Capote. Although I found it a bit wordy and overly descriptive at some points (that's American lit for you, heh) it was really good and very compelling/suspenseful. It was interesting to see how much skill was required for Capote to convey true events while also making the story readable prose fiction.
What are you currently reading? Right now I am reading *very slowly* Our Mutual Friend by Charles Dickens. This is definitely Dickens at his very best, but it also means that the book is 800 pages long and has more characters and plots than I know what to do with. But reading it is a pure pleasure, it's an almost orgasmic experience seeing how masterful Dickens is with words and characters and satire and *g*.
Five books you would take to a deserted island: The Complete Works of Jane Austen, A Passage to India by E.M. Forster, The Complete Poems of T.S. Eliot, The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and The Moonstone by Wilkie Collins. JUST FIVE??? Somehow I would smuggle on some Charles Dickens and George Eliot ♥!
