I woke up at 7:30 this morning to go oversee a computer lab for my mother's program for high school students (the same program I taught the SAT prep class for) (for which I taught the SAT prep class, GAH). It's kind of boring (okay, REALLY boring) but I am getting paid like $75 for it, so whoopie. Anything for some really easy cash... all I have to do is make sure kids don't share computers. The horror!
A woman from Kaplan just came by and told me that the girl I tutored last summer increased her score by so much that the student's mother wants me to come back this summer and tutor her OTHER daughter. Geez. I mean I'm thrilled I was able to help the girl, but not sure I ever want to go through the boring and painful process of tutoring again. I mean I'm sure I didn't do anything THAT fantastic, I barely even prepared for her tutoring sessions! But I guess it worked... somehow. Hmph. I don't really have a job next summer, and I don't want to work with money, but still... I'm not sure about teaching for a big corporation again, and of course there is the fact that I get bored out of my mind with SAT prep.
My computer is back at the technician's, this time because some of the files I needed on the computer are still not backed up and it will apparently take an entire day to do so. So I won't have my computer until Monday. BOLLOCKS. Really, people, talk about taking FOREVER to do something. I want my files back, plzkthnx.
Helen Mirren is the best actress. EVER. And "Elizabeth I" is one of the best miniseries I have ever seen! The costumes, the acting, the wigs, the scenery, the makeup, the costumes and did I mention the costumes? I would die and go to heaven if I could wear one of her costumes even for a day. Wow, they were gorgeous. I can't get over how much humanity and nuance Helen Mirren brought to Elizabeth. My only complaint is that my favourite doomed queen, Anne Boleyn, was not mentioned. BOO.
I tried to brush up on my French today, and the results were rather discouraging.
smashingtori, you are going to have to be my French drill master and sensai when we get back. So that should be fun :P.
Ack thousands of people (okay, like 7) just came in demanding computers. This is harder than it looks. I hate teenagers :-X.
