Well I guess I'm due some thoughts on Harry Potter, brought to you in convenient bullet form ;)!
Dumbledore's death: thought it would happen in the last book, knew it had to happen here. Harry has to defeat Voldemort on his own. If Dumbledore was around we'd always be looking to him for the answers, fairly confident he would get Harry out of any bind. But we're out of our comfort zone now, and it's how it has to be. I didn't expect him to die *like that*, however :(. Do I think he's really dead, like, forever? Yeah, probably.
Sirius: Still dead. Maggie: Still bitter.
Ships: Not totally committed to any of them, glad she made them clear finally, but eh. Remus/Tonks was dumb and I suspect only put in there to clarify what JKR intended as far as Remus's sexual orientation. But maybe not. Just putting that out there.
James/Lily: Nothing? Dude I thought something cool about Lily was supposed to be revealed. Guess not.
HBP: Dude, totally didn't know who it was until the end. Wow I'm thick. I kept thinking that because Hermione said it was a female that had to be true because, you know, Hermione is always right. Guess not?
Snape: I've never really liked Snape, I don't even feel mild interest in him. But I haven't made my final decision on him yet. I've always thought he was going to do something like this, but knowing JKR there might be other reasons, theories, etc., many of which I have already heard of and sound pretty plausible. Still, in an interview JKR said she was a little concerned about how many people liked Snape, so that kind of tips me off that he's not going to be good in the end. But who knows?
Harry as a horcrux? Makes sense, but don't you think Dumbledore could have guessed that one? Hm... I still hope Harry doesn't die in the end. Lord knows we don't need more martyrs, and I love happy endings :).
Lupin: Talk about a character going nowhere! Oh well.
Overall: Much better than OotP, only slightly behind PoA and GoF.
Yeah, read my last post to understand exactly what my feelings are about how the canon is paramount, but I say JKR is a freaking genius and no one but her could or has written these novels, period. So.
My manager was an ass to me yesterday when I asked off, but oh well. What can I do? Not much. I work tonight and I pray to God he's not there. Because he annoys the crap out of me. As I think I've mentioned.
Sometimes technology is a bad thing. Like having the user's manual and rescue disks for Windows software on the computer itself. Good for them figuring out how to do that, but I'd like hard copies, if you please. Having stuff on the computer doesn't help me when I need to install some Office 2000, does it now? Damn them, I'm going to have to buy the up to date version of Office.
