Sweden's in shock. The Swedish Foreign Minister was stabbed two days ago, and yesterday morning she died.
It was a complete shock to everyone because the first thing everyone heard on the radio yesterday morning was that her condition was critical but not life-threatening. I was in class and we were discussing it, saying what we had heard about it. When we got a 15 minutes break everyone got the news. It was horrible, everyone really thought that she was going to live and when she didn't, well, I suppose you could say that everything and everyone around us just kind of stopped. When we got back in the classroom our teacher asked us if we had anything to say. And we all just sat there, staring down in our books, not a peep from anyone.
That evening we were supposed to go out partying but no one felt like it, so we all just went home and watched the news the rest of the night. It was all over, one channel didn't show anything else except the same news over and over again, and interviews with friends of the minister. There were no commercial breaks, no other programs, just...news.
But as if this wasn't enough. A five year old girl was stabbed several times in her back yesterday by a psychopath. She was at daycare when that man walked right in, grabbed the first kid he saw and then stabbed her. She was rushed to the ER but she died after an hour.
A 16-year old girl who disappeared last Saturday was also found dead yesterday.
Yesterday wasn't a very good day in Sweden. I was in Karlstad yesterday, after class and you could tell how sad everyone was. People walked slower, rode their bikes slower, didn't laugh as much as usual.
So many crazy things has happened in Sweden lately.
Tonight I'm going out. I actually don't feel like it, but I don't want to miss it either. It's a party for all the 1st graders and 2nd graders at the university. We have to dress up in 80's clothes and such. So I know it's going to be fun but right now, while sitting here, I don't feel like it.
