Lazy Day Afternoon

Feb 15, 2010 08:37

It's been a weekend filled with a whole bunch of things that are awesome which was necessary after the craptastic week I had (in which I negotiated a higher salary with my smarmy jackass boss and did six brand new things as a therapist which is just exhausting).

Carrie and I realized that we are the only people on earth for whom talky British movies (Pride and Prejudice & In the Loop) keep us awake.

We also watched The Time Traveler's Wife and Carrie sobbed and sobbed, not because the movie was good but because of the book.  And then we joked about what would have happened if one of us got to time travel back and meet our partner's younger selves.  She said she would meet 6-year-old me and warn me of a couple of things and tell me to always carry a pair of scissors everywhere I went.

I said, "Aw, that's sweet.  I'd probably die hanging out with 6-year-old you."

"SO TRUE!" she said.  See, Carrie had a variety of near-death experiences as a kid, she really embraced the "invincibility" of childhood.  I did not.  I read books.

"You'd come back all bloody and shit and I'd be like, 'Ah, you were hanging with 8-year-old me.  I told you not to play on the SILO!!!"

Alas it is Monday.  Back to making decisions and doing things that don't involve naps.  Boo.
