Yesterday afternoon, I received a phone call from someone asking me a variety of questions regarding teaching in a small town near Winona.
Eight minutes we had been on the phone discussing things.
Then my phone partner says, "Do you speak English?"
It's a unique question to attempt to answer. The flight of "What the hell language is coming out of my mouth?" thoughts make you feel crazy. The "Wait, what?" moment.
Finally, the "wow, I thought we were actually communicating. I'm an idiot."
It was, however, an excellent lead in to my domestic violence advocate training I helped with later in the day. I told the story and just said, "So if I stop speaking English, don't let eight minutes go by, okay? Thanks."

Carrie wrote me a "motivational card" last week before I taught for five hours. At the bottom, she said, "Did you ever know that you're my hero....."
Then, last night on Modern Family (which has caused us to laugh hysterically two weeks in a row) made reference to being the wind and not clipping his wings....
I paused it. "We are such a fracken sitcom."
Carrie smirked and said, "Yep. Whether blowing or farting, I'm your wind baby."
I think we have our vows! :-)
