7-Year-Old Boy Takes Car to Avoid Church
They had the WHOLE FAMILY on the Today Show this morning. Isn't that great? Take the car, fly to New York, be on TV! That'll teach him it's wrong!
And man was he punished. FOUR WHOLE DAYS in his room without TV OR VIDEO GAMES!!!! His parents are meanies.
I called Mom because I know she watches TTS. She answered.
"Okay, let's say Tom is 7 and took the car to avoid church even though now they're saying it was to see what it was like to drive because you don't want to be the parents of a child who would rather steal a car than go to church..."
She interrupted. "We wouldn't be on the Today Show. He would never sniff a video game. And he wouldn't get his license until he's 18. Any more questions?"
Then Dad said, "Hey, they should have just sat him down with a beer and had a talk."
To which Carrie joined in from the shower, "Yeah, I wonder how the media would have played it had the cute adorable child been black."
Let's just say that the house I was raised in was just a, um, bit different when it came to deciding if church was really so bad (and I pulled some serious shit to get out of going to church, believe you me) and not in the corporal way but more in the "effective consequences" way.
