Custom moods!

Apr 03, 2013 22:47

I don't know how many of you have noticed, but as the new LJ editor became the default editor, the feature to select a mood icon AND to enter a custom mood was removed. I contacted LJ support about it, and the reply I got was that it was intentional but if I would like to suggest bringing that feature back, I could post it to suggestions .

So... I usually just grin and bear it, and get used to things the way they are, but I really miss this feature. It inspired me to bite the bullet and post about it here: Proposing the "other mood" field (and subsequently, the ability to preview mood icons) to be re-implemented into the new LJ editor!

I don't know if there's much you can do to help me, aside from commenting and saying YOU REALLY WANT IT BACK TOO. xD

Come on. Being able to just put "..." as your mood, and still getting to use an icon, or just selecting an icon. Those were the days, huh? That feature was awesome. Sometimes it's not so easy to tell how you're feeling. Or maybe you just have a basic "idea". Maybe you don't really want to say how you're feeling, but would like a wacky mood icon instead?

I can't wrap my head around why the feature was not included intentionally. Maybe it was difficult to write into whatever code this editor is based on. After all, the previous LJ editor still utilized some of the old HTML tricks, such as different fields and drop-down boxes that I remember using when I made my first website. I have no idea what markup language most sites use anymore, so... maybe I can't fully understand why that feature had to be taken out, I've used LJ since 2003, it was one of the first websites I started visiting regularly. I've gotten so used to it that I'm of course biased. But, if you read my post in the suggestions community, you'll see that a few others miss this feature too...

Okay, if you miss this feature too, please comment my post and let's hope for the best!
