So I am still looking for work. I got a call today from a media company in London - a big magazine company. I was very excited - it seemed really good. They said I could go in for an interview at 10am the next day

Definitely sounds like it's not worth it, unfortunately:(. It's so frustrating when an opportunity sounds great at first, but then turns out to be something else, or there's some huge caveat like "haha, we'll only pay you half of what it would cost to actually live in the city where the job is located!". I'm sorry this turned out to be one of those cases.
