Canon Character and Series: Danny Fenton // Danny Phantom
In-Game Name: Danny Fenton
Age: 14
Gender: male
Position & Ship (first and second choice for position please): Ensign Cabin Boy or powder monkey
Appearance: Danny's young. He's barely a teenager so naturally he looks still a little childish. His face is round and he has yet to sprout any facial hair. He also only comes to about 5'4'' and is very scrawny. His hair is jet black. It's cut short in the back but his bangs are slightly overgrown and hang loosely in his face. His eyes a light blue that looks rather unremarkable. Actually Danny's appearance is very average compared to most people.
When he’s not in his military uniform, he wears a white shirt that has a light red oval on the chest. The hems of his sleeves are the same light red as well as the hem around his collar. He also wears a pair of baggy, light blue jeans.
Personality: All around, Danny is a very fun loving guy. He has been known to have a temper, but he loves to goof off. He's not an intentionally mean person but on more than one occasion he’s been known to get arrogant. When he knows he’s good at something, he knows, and others will know. He’s also fairly determined to do well as a soldier, despite his mess-ups. Not that it’s always easy, thanks to his powers making him a klutz.
When trouble shows up, he usually drops the Fun!Danny attitude and gets serious. He has what can be described as a "Spider-Man" complex. If anything is threatening his friends and family, or even the general public, Danny will definitely do his best to put an end to it. He can’t really help himself.
On the subject of his powers, Danny is very secretive about them. He doesn’t like to use them unless he has too, and even then, his control isn’t even all that great. More importantly, because of this, Danny is an almost expert liar. He doesn’t exactly revel in this ability, but it has saved his ass on many occasions.
Abilities/Weapons: Thanks to an accident, Danny’s been gifted with a small list of unusual abilities that he can only describe as ‘ghost powers’. They’re not entirely powerful, yet, but they do have potential to do some good… once he knows what he’s doing.
Known abilities are as follows:
Detection of spiritual beings.
Limited intangibility (he is not invisible while he does this.)
Limited invisibility (vise versa, not intangible while doing this)
Limited flight. He can do a bit of floating, it could probably save his ass from getting tossed by VK.
And, Limited energy projectiles. Just small energy blasts that don’t really cause a lot of damage.
All of these are subject to change once he’s better with them, of course with mod approval.
In addition to all of this, Danny’s ability to lie himself out of trouble still stands.
Weaknesses: Danny’s just a kid, so he’s as vulnerable as any to certain emotional stress. He’s also clumsy and awkward, just like any kid his age. Of course, he’s also got his powers to partially blame for that (Hence why so many glass-like things end up broken on the Victoria II).
Speaking of those powers, they are a thing that, not only terrify him, but go beyond him. He really has no idea how he’s supposed to use them, let alone control them, and it scares him to death (and potentially places others in danger if he screws up). It’s one of the reasons he’s kept them to himself.
He’s also terrified of being shunned because of his strange condition, as well as being shipped off to a laboratory to be dissected.
History: Danny grew up as any normal Ivonian kid would in the city of Melior. His parents were respected, though somewhat eccentric, scientists for the Ivonian military, so maybe he was a little more pampered than others, that didn’t necessarily make him snobbish growing up. Just all the more embarrassed when his parents showed up at his school in bright jumpsuits and goggles to take him home.
Even through this seemingly intolerable behavior, Danny loved his family and often would go down into their lab to see what strange things they had cooked up. Of course, a lot of it was confidential military stuff, the things he could see were always out of this world. See, while they were military employed, they had a vast fascination with the supernatural world. Of course, this could have been something to discredit them in the scientific world, but their garnered respect kept them from being questioned.
One of the days Danny’s parents were diligently working on some new invention, Danny headed down into the basement lab to take a peek. They explained to him that what they were making was going to be the scientific breakthrough of the known world, they were going to create a physical portal into the spiritual realm.
Of course, when they tried to plug it in, it merely sparked once, and fizzled out. Downtrodden that something had gone wrong with their design; his parents left the lab to go refigure their calculations. Danny stayed behind and gave the machine a look over. He threw on one of their jumpsuits for protection, and ventured inside the portal.
He slapped his forehead finding that they’d forgotten to turn the ‘On’ switch on the whole time. Clearly inheriting his parents lack of foresight, Danny flipped the switch just as he remembered that he’d forgotten to unplug it before walking in.
The machine roared to life with poor Danny caught inside.
Danny woke up in a hospital bed the next day. Everything about him physically checked out, save for a small drop in his body temperature, but the blamed that on the accident, and Danny was free to go.
Over the next several weeks, Danny discovered his powers, and with it, the sort of trouble they caused him. His parents would walk into the house to find it in shambles, with no real good explanation from Danny. He couldn’t exactly tell them what was wrong with him, they were scientists! As much as he hated the idea that his parents would do something to him, he couldn’t shake the fear from his mind.
Instead he tried to lie his way out of it, and this worked! Until he was actually caught in the act. He was able to cover up his power usage, but for actually wrecking the living room? Not so much.
His parents decided to send him off to military school in hopes of helping him. They blamed his behavior on stress from the accident, and so figured a bit of hard work would help him forget about it.
Danny, trapped in boot camp, did what he could to cope. After the first few weeks, however, he found that testing his physical ability was somewhat of a thrill, and he started to get more into it. He also finally was able to practice some kind of control with his powers. Though not perfect by any means, it kept him out of relative trouble.
Until of course, the mess hall incident. We won’t go into detail, but we’ll say it involved an explosion of a about a few hundred gallons of chili. People were injured, Danny was blamed.
He was inexplicably assigned to the Victoria II.
