When you are not happy with your life, you have to make changes. I decided today I'm not going to major in journalism anyway. Reporting is wearing me down and stressing me out, and it's not worth being unhappy. I love writing, but writing is actually only a small fraction of journalistic work. The rest is stress, hostile sources, and waiting for phone calls.
So now to what I actually want to do - public relations or hospitality. If I decide on PR, I can still get a journalism degree with a PR concentration and only have to take 4 classes that I would have taken anyway. If I decide on hospitality, I will have to get a BS in business administration, which is its own degree and not at all related to my current BS plan B. I did the math, and not considering honors classes or senior project or any UPs, it's 72 hours which I could complete at 18 hours per semester. That's not considering I could take a lot of the classes at home at Valley. I'm actually leaning towards hotel administration, although it might be the longer road. It was what I wanted to do before I wanted to do journalism - I love hotels, and I love making people happy.
Lots of time to hang out with my bulletin!
