Took a while to get around to this, but here's reference data about Doug. Some of this is paraphrased/half-quoted from Reverse:
Age: 18
Height: 5"3
Eye colour: Blue
Hair colour: Black
Build: At one point in the novel he is said to be of a slight build. Later on it is also said that his build is similar to Lavi's. However, he is also stated to be slow.
Appearance: He has a round, childish face, and perfect posture.
Personality: He is very earnest, reserved, kind, and loving. It's easy to read his expression, and he speaks with sincerity. He's easily swayed by people's emotions, and is so compassionate and naive that it is both his weakness and his strength. Around girls, he is awkward. He has a natural ability to read people's expressions which has been finely honed by his time working in the Black Order as a Finder to the point where it is truly astonishing (for example, although Lavi also has keen observation skills, he can't hold a candle to Doug; when they talked to an unscrupulous person once, Lavi was fooled into thinking he was a decent person, but Doug was not). He says that eyes are the mirrors of the soul, and that he can see a person's mental state by looking at them.
Background: His parents died, and he was raised by relatives. He works at the Black Order as a Finder, investigating and gathering information, and is excellent at it.
When he first met Lavi when Lavi joined the Order, he treated him coldly, as if annoyed, and refused to look him in the eyes no matter how hard Lavi tried to talk to him. This was because he could tell how detached and closed-hearted Lavi was; he thought Lavi was a truly untrustworthy person. When Lavi kept on trying to talk to him, Doug told him "Your eyes are like glass. You interact with people only as reflections, without showing your true heart at all. I can’t imagine having a proper conversation with someone like that.”
On a mission later on when Doug was being chased by an Akuma and hid in a building about to collapse, Lavi came to save Doug. After that, realising that Lavi deliberately placed distance between himself and others but still cared for them, Doug developed a deep trust for Lavi.
Over a year after Lavi entered the Order, Doug investigated a town called Elysee, in France. Based on the results of that, he requested that the Order send in Exorcists. Lavi and Bookman were assigned to the mission. At this point, Doug was friendly, saying that Lavi was a little different now and that “Now you actually meet my eyes when we talk”.
On the Elysee mission, Doug met a young girl named Colette, who was working as a maid to pay off her family's debt and was suffering from violence from the son of the family she worked for. Doug was concerned about her, and decided he would pay off Colette's debt after the mission and that he would protect her from now on.
Although Doug and Colette survived the mission, when Colette was murdered by the son of the family she worked for, Doug was tricked by a rumour of a statue that could bring a person back to life if one went to it and prayed, and brought Colette back as an Akuma. The Akuma became a Level 2 within a week, then entered the Order through the underground canals, and killed many people, but was then destroyed by Lavi.
