I'm gonna leave this open to all you political types who get out and vote today. I'm interested in everyone's experience -- were there long lines? how was the crowd? did people seem prepared or agitated? what's the mood like? etc. feel free to talk about your experience in the comments

Our new place is in an old, very suburban-esque (for the city) residential neighborhood, so for the first time my polling place was within walking distance. Because of my work schedule I waited and walked down the street a bit after 9:00. It was a wonderful walk-- beautiful day, trees all red and gold, people walking around. Because it is so residential, I think everyone votes before or after work or the stay-at-homers during the day, so it was pretty empty.
I was in and out in five minutes. Chatted to a friendly volunteer who asked me about my book (was prepared for lines), and everyone was super nice. A group of young kids came in, I think they were with their teacher, so they must have all been newly 18.
On my walk back I went in the nearby Starbucks-- where the line was longer than the polls thanks to free coffee!-- then walked home and came into work by 9:45.
A very positive experience. I admit to getting chocked up when I cast my votes. It is an amazing year to vote.
