Reno was without his own pair of mouse-ears. But damn it, he'd made a point to get four pairs while he was at Disneyland.
"Well, a guy's gotta eat," Reno chuckled as he shouldered his own bag. Oh, he was keeping it with him, for now. He had plans for the souvenirs inside of it, and he packed possibly lighter than Elena did. "An' beer ain't easy to find. It made sense at the time, zoto."
"I've been sending you beer," she reminded him, before stopping briefly to correct herself. "No, you know, I think I've been sending rum and tequila and that Everclear you like, but I completely forgot about beer. Next package?"
It was very, very, very offhand that she added, "So ... no one knows I'm here, right?"
"Nobody knows so long as you're plannin' on makin' good on that beer offer," Reno laughed, stooping down to make certain that Mako still had plenty of food and clean water, and then straightening again to make a quick round of the plants. Beans, radishes, two cacti, a little orange tree thingie, some little yellow flowers that totally didn't make sense in among the rest of it...
His was an awesome little greenhouse, damn it.
"Was thinkin' of swingin' by the office right quick, actually. See if Rude's in. Give Tseng his mouse ears..."
"Let's," Elena said, hoping she didn't sound too nervous. Or anxious. Or whichever. "I mean, that's why I'm here, right? Help out for a few days? You guys are backlogged, you could use an extra pair of hands. Might as well roll my sleeves up and pitch in."
Kill some monsters? Say hi to Rude? Maybe also that other guy?
Ugh, she was pathetic.
