Elena had missed her call and Rosalind would be lying if she said she was pleased by that, but at least she'd managed to talk to the younger of her sisters (easier to think of them as being younger and older, truly, the more she interacted with them) and even though she'd had to push the day out at the zoo off until the weekend, Elena had taken it well.

Now her phone was ringing and Rosalind looked up from her paperwork--work her Tseng had sent her--as she picked up the call.

"Rosalind."

"Hey," Elena said, smiling a little, as always, at her sister's so-professional greeting. "Sorry I missed your call, last night. How are you?"

"Up to my eyebrows in work," Rosalind said, and only Rosalind would sound quite so pleased about that. Really, Tseng could send her more. "Elena. How was your birthday?"

She assumed Elena had been doing something about that.

"Verrrrry nice," Elena said, unable to keep a smile from her face. "I went out, lived it up, you know."

That wasn't exactly true, but maybe Rosalind wouldn't be able to spot that? Better to keep talking.

"I, uh, didn't see your message until late," she added, apologetically. "I wasn't sure if it was too late to call. When is too late to call, anyway?"
