It's in the stars...
what is GOING ON?
even the folks i know that don't give astrology much credence have been coming to me and timidly asking, "is there something up with the stars right now?" hurricane katrina, famine in africa, everyone is breaking up...
i've heard mumblings about saturn and mars squaring, solar flares and something up with pluto...but i'm not really clear. whatever has been going on has that death/rebirth pluto feeling, but also the energy of mars. someone enlighten me...

Well there a are a few things involved. Today was rough with Sun sq Pluto and Moon opposite Saturn on the same day.
You are right that Mars is important in what you mention. Mars is moving very slowly. The actual retrograde date is 10/1 but just like we feel Mercury Rx a week before it happens we are feeling Mars a few weeks before its change in direction. Mars is intensified, yet stuck because it is moving so slowly. All the things we fight for are being called into question as we are starting to sense the hesitation. We want to fight, but don't know where to punch. So we pull back but that energy has to go somewhere and that makes for frustration. This is my take.
In the traditional view, a Mars station would definitely increase the evil in the world such as storms, famines, relationship troubles, unrest among the people, etc.
