So, it turns out that part of the steam burn I sustained yesterday may actually be second degree. It doesn't look like a blister, but it feels like one

Oh, ouch. Burns hurt like nothing else! If you take some ibuprofen it might help with the pain as well as keep it from swelling. Does it look wet at all? If the skin doesn't blister or break you're probably fine, but if it does you might want to slap some neosporin and a bandage on it.
I hope the room inspection goes better than the last one! :)
