Not at all honey! You didn't overreact. People who are unable to respect other people's beliefs are ignorant and they are the people who have allowed things such as the Spanish Inquisition and the Holocaust to take place...
there was a quote, I believe it was by a rabbi or a pastor...something, i've found it linked to a few people so i dont think anyone really knows...well hell ill try to find it (keke). it was on a poster in my one high school teacher's class.
...okay here it is

"Pastor Martin Niemöller concerning moral failure in the face of the Nazis: "First they came for the Communists, but I was not a Communist, so I said nothing. Then they came for the Social Democrats, but I was not a Social Democrat, so I did nothing. Then came the trade unionists, but I was not a trade unionist. And then they came for the Jews, but I was not a Jew, so I did little. Then when they came for me, there was no one left to stand up for me.""

Someone's inability to understand and respect another culture is as close as some people will ever come to killing another person, but it is just as bad.

The stamp thing, you already know this, but yes we discussed it in my Anthropology class...it is a stupid forward probably originally made by some guy who knew he could prey upon less "educated" or less "deep thinking" people. There is simply a call for emotions by mentioning the "muslim" attacks. Anybody that reads it without falling for the emotional appeal should be able to notice the difference between a religion and a religious extremist group.
The muslims did not commit these crimes, the crimes were commited by people who were muslim. People who believe in Christianity have done even more horrible things to many more people.
Not to mention, in the opening statement...
"How ironic is this??!! They don't even believe in Christ and they're getting their own Christmas stamp, but don't dream of posting the ten commandments on federal property?"
There are a couple things wrong with this. First off, YES Muslims DO BELIEVE IN CHRIST...it is documented FACT that he DID Exist! I had a muslim friend in highschool and asked her about it while in class one time and she said, yes, but they think of him just as a prophet, not as a messiah. You know...like if some Christians cared about any other religion they would agree that other religous figures probably did exist as well.
AND this is NOT A CHRISTMAS STAMP! This is a religious stamp that has to do with a muslim ceremony. Not only was the person who wrote this email ignorant of other cultures, they were also lacked so much social relativity that i'm surprised they know there is another country out there besides the United States...
