A quote I enjoy from 'Shall We Dance'

Aug 21, 2006 19:15

"We need a witness to our lives. There's a billion people on the planet... I mean, what does any one life really mean? But in a marriage, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. You're saying 'Your life will not go unnoticed because ( Read more... )

what a terribly depressing quote if you are alone. but that was a nice way to pull something interesting out of a movie i hate.

Katie - I am alone too... but somehow i was able to hear the quote and not burst into tears. I think its because I am seeing it as a big goal... or maybe i am rambling. Actually, no... the reason i didnt cry is because i think that the quote applies to almost all relationships (friendships, short dating spells, and even watching strangers) I was intrigued by our need to have a witness. Now i now i am rambling...lol

see you soon.

haha, it should apply to your dogs. my dog was the best effing witness i ever could have hoped for. b/c dogs never, ever judge you..they literally just observe. not like humans.

it also gives new meaning to the song "can i get a witness?" hehe.

i better go before i start rambling..watch the fred astaire/ginger rogers "shall we dance" - soooo much better.

if you listen to that sermon, Dr. Hunter talks about why animals are so much easier to get along with than people it's pretty amusing.

and I have to say kudos to that fred/ginger movie. it is way better.

i went to church last night and the sermon was incredible. i know you're not always completely happy with the whole God thing but i wish you could have heard it. and then i remembered, you can hear it because they post it online. it's rather lengthy so if you don't have the inclination or the time to listen to it, i completely understand. it's entitled "Choose to be Chosen" and it was all about how God builds family and friendships and relationships in general.

i went with one of my friends and she said it was quite possibly her favorite sermon of all time. so, if you want to listen to it you could get off itunes, just look up "northland church sermon audio". i don't think the video is up yet, but if you'd rather watch it you can wait a few days and look up "northland church sermon video." anyhow, i found it very encouraging.
