As soon as I get home to my laptop tonight, I'll have to nab 33 and 34. 34 honestly made me gag on my coffee in a snicker. ^_^

"Battle Royale" is such an effed up movie.. and yet, its so so so very brilliant. =) Thanks for the icons!

Battle Royale is one of those movies that you can't help but watch, if only for the freaky factor. The book and manga are also equally, if not more, creepy.

Glad you like =D

Unfortunately I haven't finished either of those. I've browsed through the manga back when I worked at a store that sold them, though never had time to actually finish them. (my slackerdom has limits. ^_~ )

And the book I own. I was probably a third of the way in before I got distracted, and or gored out. I mean the movie doesn't even really touch on what was done to the main character's foster mom... and of course reading the sickening descriptions of the deaths is somehow harder to stomach, than seeing a visual slightly toned down version of those scenes.

But yeah, the first time a friend sat me down to watch that film.. I honestly believe a part of my innocence died. I kept thinking, "If I was in that situation, what would I do? How soon would I die? ... Because I couldn't really see myself making it to the end."

I always figured I'd be like one of the lighthouse girls. All happy to stick with my friends, but when shit goes down, I'd be the first to die. Or pass out, even. Seriously, I passed out in eleventh-grade human biology when people started to just talk about blood.

I'd fail at Battle Royale so hard =(

Hah, yeah I don't know about the blood part. I haven't been around it enough in real life. (thank god) I think I'd probably be like those lighthouse girls as well.. yet part of me doesn't also wonder if I wouldn't be like those initial couples who decided to commit suicide on their terms and refused to kill. Because really.. would the quality of life be worth it, if you had the memories of your fellow friends and classmates' blood on your hands for the rest of your life? I think I'd go crazy if I was the last to survive, and doubt I'd ever be able to return to a sense of normalcy and happiness. =/

That is true. The idea of a battle royale does raise some interesting ideas, not only how well you know yourself and your peers, but also in a greater social sphere, and I'd have to say that's the appeal in it. Or at least, the appeal I found in it. In a way, it reminds me of the Tomorrow... series by John Marsden. If you don't know, it's about a group of teenagers in rural Australia when a country invades Australia (it's never specified which, only that they're Asian), and how the teens fight back, not only to save themselves, but also their friends and families ( ... )

"Tomorrow" sounds definitely intriguing. As soon as I finish re-reading the Potter books (yep, I'm one of those sad souls re-reading in preparation of the 7th book. ^_^), I'll have to circle back to Battle Royale and make sure to finish it this time.

Thanks for the suggestion on the Tomorrow series!

No problem! Overall, the books are pretty simple to read, and they're not all that long. He also wrote a sequel to them, but they suck. IMO. YMMV.
