The other day I overheard the following conversation between two young girls working behind the counter in a women's clothing store:
- Yoko Ono, you know, who was married to, eh, Elvis? No, I mean, one of the guys in the Beatles, wasn't it?
- Yeah, ehm, Paul McCartney, I think it was?
Now, I'm born after John Lennon was killed, and I've never much cared for the Beatles' music at all, but even I know that Yoko Ono was married to Lennon. So, am I growing old and grumpy thinking this kind of ignorance is scary, or is this the kind of general knowledge people ought to have?
