Title: Disjointed
Characters/Pairing: Jack/Jordan
Word Count: 125
Rating: PG
Summary: Chocolate may or may not be food - the jury's still out.
Notes: Written for soscaredtolove for a drabble meme, using the lyric "The truth is, I'm desperate for true love/Not once-a-year, chocolate cherries, bloody and red". My first time writing Jack. (It's scary.)
Disclaimer: Still not Sorkin. Shocking, I know.

Jordan bought chocolate-covered cherries for herself on Valentine's Day. She doesn't even like them most of the year, so she attributes the sudden impulse to the baby. She's carrying the box when she walks into Jack's office, and notices when he looks askance at her.

"I was hungry," she explains.

"That's not food."

"It's chocolate."

Jack raises an eyebrow. Jordan frowns.

"Chocolate's not food?"

"No. Now listen-"

"Is it true you and your wife are separated?"

"What?"

"I'm sorry, that was-"

"Yes. Why?"

"I don't know." Jordan pauses. "Do you want a chocolate?"

"No."

"Okay."

There's a silence neither of them are comfortable with, in which too much is said. Finally, Jordan asks, "Is it because it's not food?"

Jack actually smiles, albeit reluctantly. "No."
