Mimi spun as someone grabbed her arm, automatically tensing and a little surprised to see that it was a pretty blond woman who'd grabbed her and not some crazy guy who'd followed her from the club or...
"You're Mimi?"
She raised an eyebrow and pulled her arm free. "Who're you?"
The woman pressed her lips together, in a way that made her seem harsh and cold. Colder, at least, as she'd already seemed icy from the first word she spoke. "Is your name Mimi?" she repeated.
Mimi rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and who're you?"
"Alison Coffin," she snapped, her tone frosting over even more. Mimi's expression shifted to sudden realization, and then she narrowed her eyes.
"And you wanted to what? Warn me away from your husband?" She smiled faintly, not in an entirely friendly manner. "It's not my fault he's with me. You want to warn someone, talk to him."
Alison looked shocked, but before she could say anything, Mimi stepped forward, grabbed her arm, moved so her face was almost uncomfortably close to Alison's. "But did you ever think maybe he's cheating on you for a reason? Maybe I've got something you can't give him?"
She stood there, a barely nineteen-year-old girl facing down Miss Alison Grey of the Westport Greys, meeting her cold eyes, challenging, close enough to feel her breath on her face, fingers tight on her arm. For a moment it had nothing to do with Benny at all.
