Title: Parallels
Characters/Pairing: The Doctor/Des, mention of Martha
Word Count: 214
Rating: G
Summary: Des and the Doctor are very much the same in many ways.
Notes: I don't know. I had the need to write something happy. Ish. And I missed the boys just being... them around each other. So.
Disclaimer: The Doctor belongs to the BBC. Des belongs to
kawaiispinel. Something about the Rift eating your soul.
In some things - many things - Des and the Doctor are not so different. The Doctor knows this, even if he wouldn't admit it. They're much the same when they're angry, although Des has much more of a tendency towards hitting people than the Doctor. They're equally fond of what other people seem to see as idiotic and insane risks and they see as nothing more than necessity.
And then there's this.
If it were the Doctor, he would want to be left alone. But it's Des, and he may want that, but it's probably not exactly good for him.
The Doctor catches him in the hallway outside of their bedroom, just stepping out of the door. He throws his arms around Des without a word, hugs him as tight as he can. Des freezes for a second before hugging him back, and it's only then that the Doctor lets go and steps back.
"Martha wants you downstairs for dinner," he says, like that hug didn't just happen, "and she's actually made food. On the stove. Please don't make me eat it alone."
Des stares at him for a moment, and then there's a fleeting not-all-there smile. It's enough for the Doctor. The two of them heal much the same too.
