Happy birthday, Sam <3

Today I watched 14x01 "Stranger in a Strange Land." Although it is, in my opinion, one of the best episodes re: Sam, perhaps it was not the best choice for me to watch at this point in time, because I have rewatched almost every single Sam scene MANY times since the episode first aired. (Aside from the "There will be no new king of hell" bit, which I think is liked by viewers/fandom at large more than me. It is fine, it is good, but for me it is totally eclipsed by the scene of Sam and Nick, and Sam in the car with Mary, and generally the rest of Sam’s everyday crap of being competent but absolutely run down and in charge of everything but also Done With Everything, heaven help me I love him so much.) I mean, I was and am incredibly pleased to watch those scenes again, but the other scenes mostly just felt like boring interludes of Not-Sam content, and upon finishing the episode I was tempted to go and watch 2x12 for Nightshifter Sam, love of my life. I may watch 7x15 Repo Man tomorrow.

I had a Supernatural dream last night that involved Sam and Dean being out of doors, collapsing on the ground after some far-reaching psychic zap, and them straining like they were putting up walls in their minds, Dean saying, "You felt that, right? It was connected to us and not to anyone else?" (Which was a crucial bit of information-it meant that the Bad Thing had gotten reckless enough that it was no longer threading its attacks through the minds of the entire county but was targeting Sam and Dean exclusively, and if they worked fast they could target it back through this psychic link without hurting anyone else.) Sam gritted "Yeah" as they doggedly staggered to their feet, and then they counted down and used the psychic link to mind-zap themselves somewhere else, apparently wherever the Bad Thing was.

(I also dreamt that I was riding a horse and kept sliding weirdly forward against the horse’s neck, which was very frustrating and confusing and seemed like a very unusual problem to be having even for someone such as myself who has only sat on a horse once or twice in my life. Later when I was walking on my own two feet I looked at the horse I'd been riding and found that it was not a horse at all but an alpaca. A very large alpaca that was also a camel, because it had two humps. But this has nothing to do with Sam.)

Google Photos informed me that, six years ago today, I was playing Oregon Trail (5th edition) with a party made up entirely of different versions/eras of Sam: “Young Sam” (who died early of Typhus), “Stanford” (bitten by a rattlesnake), Trials!Sam (who did undergo many trials, including a bad cold, cuts and abrasions, and frostbite)-and also "Jared P." (I am not sure whether the French Mistake or real life version was intended), who at one point was the one coughing up blood. Sometime I will write an ode to Oregon Trail, which in many ways was the impetus for me writing Supernatural fan fiction. But for now I am happy to report that, in my 2016 May 2nd game, the wagon leader “Sam Winchester” made it to Oregon and there was “well-respected by all” and lived a “happy and successful” life.

This is the weirdest birthday post, but it’s what I’ve got. Anyway. I love him so much it hurts.

<3333333333333333333 Happy birthday, Sam. <33333333333333333333

(PS Not to sound completely off brand but have you ever considered how violently Sam might have kissed that crossroads demon in the 4x09 flashback if he’d agreed to Sam’s drunk desperate offer because I just did and it was Something, let me tell you)

supernaturally, dreamwalking
