i love a story that's all implications. poor sam, being both correct and used as bait, but not putting the two together, dean not wanting to, and john being oblique in a way that's both destructive and protective.

I do hope you don't feel "idiotic" for responding to this fic the way you did! It's a fairly nebulous story, and that's not for everyone all the time. To be fair, plot is not my strong suit, and so any clarity on that front definitely took a backseat to other elements of the story (especially since I ran into some unexpected time constraints as I neared the submission deadline). Also, this fic by nature withholds as much as it reveals: so not only did I imply quite a bit, but I also purposefully left some "holes" with no definitive answers.
