Man this week went fast! Handed in english on Monday after finishing it that morning, got it back and I'm ranked 17th overall in advanced which isn't good cos I should be 8th or above considering there are only 8 people overall in extension. Oh well, I'll make it up...sometime.
I've started going for runs with Brad on the beach before school a few days a week, I'm sick of being so unfit so yeah, it's really helped with stress levels aswell I'm feeling a lot better than i was a few weeks ago. I can sleep now too cos I'm actually worn out. Hooray for me.
Today some HSC music marker chick came up from Sydney and listened to our performances and critiqued them. I did The Door by Silverchair cos I'm gunna do it for HSC, and she couldn't find anything bad to say about it so I saw that as a good thing, but even so I wanted her to tell me something to make it better because I know it isn't perfect. ooo something that's really got me bummed out though. Time limits. For our HSC pieces, our performances can't be longer than 5 minutes, and our compositions can't be longer than 4 minutes. How BS is that. The Door goes for 5:30, so I'm gunna have to cut some of it out and it won't be as good. And the stuff I write is usually progressive, and it takes a long time for it to build up, so if I do something like that for my HSC composition it will seem really rushed and won't work. It's shit as. Heff made a really good argument about it: do they limit the canvas size of art students? Do they? NO. As long as it isn't ridiculously huge, they can do whatever they want. Is a 9 minute song ridiculously huge? No. Five and a half? No. Music is about flowing ideas and working freely. These limits make it constraining and add an extra element of hassle and worry that is always in the back of your mind, taking away the focus that is necessary. Anyways that's my little rant...i feel better now :) lol
But yeah other than that life is good. If that's the biggest of my worries I can't be doing too bad can I. I'm content with where I'm at, I hope it stays this way for a while, I'm sick of being sick of being. Yeah think about that one. Lol i might write that one down, that was pretty good :P haha inspiration for my composition! Victory is mine!
I have decided from this post forth I will leave you with a quote from Jack Handey from Saturday Night Live. Cyall, stay happy yeh :)
"If you go parachuting, and your parachute doesn't open, and your friends are all watching you fall, I think a funny gag would be to pretend you were swimming." - Jack Handey.
