Finanwen
How did you choose your LiveJournal username? Is there an interesting story behind it?
Many of you will probably know the story behind my username and its meaning :) However...
Finanwen is my Elvish alter ago, the name I came up with back in my Tolkienist times. I really was very fond of the Elvish languages (I still remember A Elbereth Gilthoniel poem by heart! XD) so I decided I need a name. It means "a maiden with long hair". The funny thing is that even now I never cut my hair shorter than the lower shoulder-blade line. Yes, I still respect my name that much :)
If you happen to see a Finanwen online, there is 99% probability that it is me :) As I made up the name myself, I was pretty sure that I'm the only one going by it. I did have a bit of a shock when natley found a Finanwen which wasn't me, at finanwen@hotmail.com. She turned out to be French and claimed to have made up her name. She got the meaning wrong though :) So I even had a thought that she nicked it :)
Anyway after that I came up with the second name and became Finanwen Lindaliel (from lindalë - "music"). To really be the only one.
I love this name. And I really feel it's part of me. If somebody called out "Fin!" in the street, I'd stop and turn :) So basically feel free to call me that. It’s as dear as Varya to me :)
