Naruto AU fanfic

Author's Notes: Incredibly late, can't sleep, and blahhh. If there are grammatical/punctuational errors that are bugging the hell out of you, lemme know and I'll fix 'em. Also, this is a complete AU of the Naruto world--none of it is relating whatsoever, just certain world mechanics such as the different type of ninja techniques, clan names, and chakra affinities.
Surasshu Yaiba sat down on the soft dewy grass as he hung his legs over the edge of a cliff. Behind him was the legendary waterfall that defined Takigakure--the Hidden Waterfall Village. He had just entered the village from Kirigakure, the Hidden Mist Village, on a mission to secure the Water Country's borderlines, to ensure there were no invading shinobi. But it wouldn't hurt if he took a small break, would it?
He dropped his pack down the rock face, as it caught onto another edge. No worries, he'll pick it up on his way down, he had enough chakra to walk down the entire rock face. The Mizukage fell back and lay there for a few moments, breathing in the humid air from the waterfall and calmly exhaled. Unfortunately, Surasshu was a restless person and thusly sat back up, staring off into the distance. From his position, he could see his home village, Konohagakure--the Hidden Leaf Village. At least, he could see the forest in which Konoha could be found. Ahhh, the location brought back memories, as he had spent his childhood there.
He could remember the days when he was first learning about being a ninja. The three basic ninja techniques, genjutsu, ninjutsu, and taijutsu. Taijutsu, martial arts and hand-to-hand fighting techniques, were his specialty, as he was of the Yaiba clan. A clan of swords and blades and thusly, he was particular with fencing. Ninjutsu, or ninja techniques, would serve as good ranged techniques for him, as they were the "magic" attacks of a ninja. Lastly, the most difficult to perform, yet the most powerful, were genjutsu, or illusionary techniques. Trapping opponents in illusions, there were famous clans that wield these techniques almost effortlessly, such as the Uchiha clan of Konoha.
Then of course, he learned about the different chakra affinities from his father, or what elements one would be most attuned with. It was because of these affinities that ninjas are able to perform certain techniques. In total there were five, Water, Fire, Lightning, Earth, and Wind; he was strongest with Water naturally, but he was capable of using Wind and Fire techniques also.
Probably the next most important thing he learned was of the world, how it was mapped and organized. This was important to his job as Mizukage, the head commander of the Water Country ninja. Currently the world was at war, and each country is utilizing everything at their disposal to take the other. However, the Wind and Fire countries are allied, as are the Lightning and Earth Countries. Water was on its own, but due to the many number of ninja, they are able to maintain neutrality and even pose a thread to the other nations. Hopefully the war would end soon, but one can't control destiny. Ah yes, Water Country had several ninja villages, Kirigakura (Hidden Mist), Amegakure (Hidden Rain), and Takigakure (Hidden Waterfall). It was certainly a pity that many bypass the Hidden Waterfall, it was a beautiful site to behold. Next to Water Country, where Konohagakure and Kusagakure. In Lightning there's only the Hidden Cloud village (Kumogakure).
Ahhh, well, now rest time was over for Surassu--quite nostalgic it was. He was able to remember his old childhood, or at least the basics of what he was now. He didn'; He didn't expect to do that there of all places, or even that time.
