Martial Excitement

I've completed my study of the Sinawali-style Escrima I began studying back in Johnson City and added it to my arsenal of weapon styles, including Cabales Serrada Escrima. I am a very happy and proud escrimador.

This is by no-means a claim of mastery or supremacy within the style, or even at the style. I've simply been studying it, catch-as-catch-can, for the last five years or so and I've wrapped up my final goal (which was to learn the entire Bakbakan-sanctioned version of the Lakbay-Sinawali form).
This is an incomplete study, as most of my martial studies are. It's the equivalent of finally achieving a red belt or a brown belt in karate and saying 'okay, I'm good'... but this is as far as I think the style can take me without finding a teacher (no small feat outside of the Philippines or a major city like NYC... and even then) and investing in the style completely. It's been tremendously beneficial to learn and I think I've grown a lot as an escrimador, as a weapons-fighter, and as a martial artist.

I don't know where I'm going yet as a martial artist, though I think a brief return to Wing Tsun for a few months is in order before I search out something totally new. But wherever I go to from here, I'll be taking Sinawali escrima with me and be a better man for it.

milestones, training
