A small group of roughly 100, a far cry from the nearly 1000 bikes of last year, went wheels up around 11:15 pm on a stormy NYC night and headed downtown to the World Trade Center. We arrived a little after midnight and laid our wreath by the PATH train since we cannot get a permit for our ride and it is not an official ride in the City's eyes. Nevertheless, we were there and we have not forgotten.
It's 1:30 in the early morning of September 11th and I am going to sleep for a short while and then make the trek back downtown for the official 9/11 Memorial. I felt I needed to represent this year so that's what I will do.
May all who were touched, in any way, by the events that occurred 14 years ago find some peace and solace today.
I love you, Liam. I will never forget.
