Homemade butter with freshly bake cornbread for the win!

Yesterday my class made butter. I love it as a lesson because it's so damn easy and it's hands on. Take one pint of heavy cream, pour into a quart size bottle with a lid and shake. That's it. The buttermilk eventually separates and then you pour it off, rinse the butter with cool water while pressing the rest of the buttermilk out with a spoon and then add salt to taste. It's nummy. I divided the class into two groups and we had a contest of which group could make butter first. It was pretty funny. I brought corn bread I made at home and we all nommed. :)
