Tax appointment today. Whee.

No school for Bree yesterday meant no homework over the weekend. She's happy about that. I told her making her room clean should be a priority. She's not happy about that.

Cleo's results won't come back until this coming Wednesday. The vet thinks it could be a skin condition. I'm hoping. Mom didn't tell me that Cleo has been drinking a lot of water and urinating often until after the appointment. That's usually indicative of a kidney issue. If the skin culture comes back negative then I'm taking her back for blood work.

The emergency vets on Long Island we use for off hour issues are amazing. I love my regular vet but I am always impressed with the level of care we receive at the emergency vet. The vet gave us a paw print keepsake with Cutie's paw prints made in clay. A few days later, a sympathy card arrived from her as well. That's class. They are LIVS.Org for anyone who is interested. They are not cheap but they are worth it for the level of care and understanding they provide. Also, they see all animals including horses and exotics and that's a plus as well.

My goal is to clean and spend a lot of time with my plants this weekend.

Mom's toe appears to be healing. It's under a bandage that won't be changed until Tuesday but the surrounding skin is not red or inflamed. Looks like she dodged a bullet on that one.

Mom lost another friend this week. She had made friends with a woman in physical rehab that she had sort of known peripherally from a mutual friend but had never met. They really hit it off. I had met her several times and she took to our family. She even commissioned a necklace from me. Unfortunately, Phyllis had cancer and it took her early Thursday morning. She was quite a personality and although we only knew her a few short months we will miss her terribly. Safe journey, Phyllis.

Bree seems to be making peace with the loved ones she has lost. She told me some things she is thinking about that made me proud to be her mother. Heck, I'm always proud to be her mother but yesterday I was even more so.

Parent teacher conferences went fairly well. We heard some glowing things from her strings and Spanish teacher. We never did get to her English or SS teachers but her grades there are in the mid 80s and I'm not worried about those classes. The upshot of math and science is she isn't focusing, taking notes, finishing assignments, studying for tests or doing all her homework. Her grades in her other classes show that she can do those things. We've come up with a plan to address these issues and we'll see how it goes.

February is almost over. Damn that was quick.

Oh and, enough with the snow already. Jeez.
