All in all, a good weekend. Had 9 days since returning from Italy (and a few before I left) when I had very little to do. The fact this is bothersome does perturb somewhat; though I guess the pleasures of books and Wimbledon are best viewed through non-allergenic eyes. Which I've had trouble attaining lately :(
Friday went to see
John Pilger's new documentary, The War on Democracy. Why do some people/critics lambast it for taking a stance, and accuse of propaganda? Is it perhaps because they're too blind-sighted to see that Hollywood and the mass media itself propagates, believing themselves only in 'rational' pragmatism? Hmm, perhaps. Anyways, good documentary, great introduction piece as well as enlightening the forgotten voices (as Pilger has a tendency to do).
Saturday hit the gym with
myronv2, and did a little more than usual (quit laughing at the back!). Then off to see
Die Hard at the flicks, very enjoyable. Much more so than I'd predicted. Car chases, guns, fun dialogue, old jokes, bald jokes, in-jokes, and some eye-candy. Hurrah!
Headed over to the Leadmill to see
Does it Offend You, Yeah? (actually no it doesn't, since you're rather too bland). Gladly, they were only supporting
Shiny Toy Guns (
Myspace here) who were very, very good. Enjoyed that a lot.
Then to
Bungalows and Bears for a couple of
fruity beers and a three-way (conversation...) with
krispen and
scummoth. Then Razor Stilleto, afterparty at Runaway Girl and after-afterparty at a random punk house in Hunters Bar. Walked most of the way home at 6.30 since there wasn't a bus due. Walking is fun at that time of the morning, especially if you have energy (ipod + evening out usually does the trick).
Bonus today: Raikkonen won the grand prix. Yay Ferrari!
