so wow, i haven't posted here in.......o 0 OOO forever!

hard to find time for things like a blog with a toddler in the house, but i wouldn't trade this life for anything.

just a quick update to say that through a friend i've been connected with the possibility of a part-time teaching position next spring/summer. it would only be from April to August, two days a week, less than 3 hours per day, but round about 1k a month.

Mom is supposed to be here in April, so i figure she can watch Kirie the first couple weeks, then take her to some kind of daycare (which i have to find, eek!) as part of the transition...i really don't wanna put K in daycare here because there will be zero English spoken, BUT for less than 6 hours a week i don't think it'll be too bad. it's a one-time gig, or so it seems, but if i end up doing a decent job there's always the possibility of future employment...

the school is a "short college" which means it combines Japanese three-year high school and either a 2-year associate's degree or a 4-5 year bachelor's all in one campus...kinda reminds me of my jr-high/high school combo so i can dig. thing is, it's a vocational/industrial/technical track college, so we're talkin mostly guys and probably 85-90% will lack motivation or skills in English. there will be that small percentage with aims of working at the top in Mazda and Bridgestone, etc. and therefore needing English to work abroad, etc. but the majority will just be taking English as part of their liberal arts gen-ed. base.

my class would be high school seniors (but not really "seniors" in the sense they have at least 2 more years to go at the same school) - 100 minute classes to supplement their Japanese-taught English grammar classes. I can choose the textbook and make the tests and the name of the class is English Conversation, so i wouldn't have to do homework or anything else written unless i desired to...

it's very exciting and challenging all at once and i'm wondering if i'm crazy to think i can do this, yet i totally know i can...the thing is trying to realistically ponder the actual workload apart from the 5-6 hours teaching every week, and whether i can do that and also accomplish my workload as a mommy/housewife and part-time private English teacher to boot...

so here it is Lord, take it and show me what to do with it in Your time...
